The scars remaining from poorly healed wounds are not only an aesthetic problem, but can also be the source of many psychological problems as well. Some people are trying to get used to it, but this is clearly not a solution.
Fortunately, many new treatments exist to improve both the look of old and new scars. We asked our chief plastic surgeon, Dr. Greg Pataki about the latest methods.
„According to the foreign and Hungarian medical congresses, a large base of experience accumulated about the efficiency of Fat Transfer Scar Treatment” – said Dr. Pataki, who gained his own experience with the new procedure in American and German plastic surgery clinics.
„Detailed data research, analysis, and high level of medical evidence prove that Scar Treatment with Autologous Fat Transfer is a safe and effective solution” – summarizes Dr. Pataki.
This treatment is promising not only for smaller scars, but for larger burnt areas as well. What is more, has excellent results in patients after Breast Cancer Surgery to improve the texture of scarred tissues, as it raises the „pulled-in” surface of the scars, improving its contours.
„Injection of the body’s own fat tissues is effective because this material contains factors that regenerate and rejuvenate the skin. The method has been used in Hungary for a while to treat a wide variety of scars, and practical to treat face deformities, lip augmentation, facial rejuvenation, or improving the volume and contours of other body areas (such as the breasts). We harvest adipose tissues usually from around the navel or buttocks to perform a special preparation process before injecting them underneath the scar with a syringe” – reveals Dr. Pataki.
Thanks to this method, even hard and thick scars become soft in a short time to assimilate in the surrounding skin.
„US, Japanese and European clinics conducted experiments for 12 years to achieve beautiful results in Breast Augmentation with the patients’ own adipose tissues after Liposuction” – explains Dr. Pataki.
„The research required further testing. Finally, in 2009, there was a sufficient number of imaging results to prove that Autologous Fat Transfer is ideal for Breast Augmentation. After that, a US congress reported favorable results of several studies, which gave impetus to this alternative to classic breast augmentation” – adds our doctor.
Breast Augmentation with Lipotransfer carries no greater risk than other breast augmentation procedures. This fact is supported by detailed research data and high-quality medical evidence. The assumption is not proven that growth factors and stem cells in the transplanted fat could play a role in the development of breast cancer. Experienced radiologists can clearly tell the difference between even calcificated fat tissue and medical problems.
